Tips for Food Gulpers

I never had a food gulper until Jake joined our home.
He would gulp his food down in seconds then throw it up soon after.

Considering their meals are homemade from scratch, not to mention the waste of meat we had individually ground and bagged, we needed a solution that wouldn't complicate our feeding schedule for our 4 dogs.

Here is a free, natural solution I came up with one morning.

There are many products out there to discourage dogs from gulping down their food. What I didn't like was that they were all made of plastic and wouldn't fit into our handmade elevated diners. Here a few products (left to right links: Eat Better, BrakeFast, DogPause)

*Please keep in mind that the rocks should be too large to fit into your dog's mouth, and make sure your dog doesn't try to chew on the rock...

Jake is a gulper, but he is very gentle around the rocks and licks them clean too. I usually remove 2 rocks at a time while watching his eating pace. Hope this helps!

Dogmobiles

My first car, Mercedes Slk350,was my dream car that I had before Lexi came into my life. When she was a puppy, she enjoyed the open top ride. Soon she outgrew the ceiling height and seat space of the car very fast!

Our second car, Lexus Hybrid Rx400, which is now my sisters car, was okay, for both Lexi and Wilson but the seats were too high up from the ground and hard on their joints every time they jumped off. After Carly and Jake joined us, the backseat and trunk proved too small. The hybrid aspect saved us a lot of money on gas, and made us feel eco-conscious which was a plus : )

My current car, 09' Dodge Grand Caravan SXT is the perfect dogmobile! The best part is that the seats go down into the floor of the car. I can bring the seats back up whenever I have human passengers, which is actually not that often! Anyway, so I bought a small mattress from IKEA to cushion the floor. All 4 of them love getting in this car, the low floors, automatic sliding doors, windows that go down in their area, really make this the ultimate dogmobile. My only complaint, it eats a lot of gas (We chose the 4.0 Engine) : (

*Dog Statues*

I was getting my car (Dodge Grand Caravan) serviced and since Dodge doesn't give loaner cars and I had to wait around for more than 2 hours I started to walk around Route 17 highway in Paramus, NJ with my b/f.

We stopped by this peculiar gas station because it had so many dog statues out front. There were many more inside!

We couldn't resist and bought a Beagle and a Miniature Pinscher statue for my mom's dogs in Korea and bought a small Doberman statue for our Lexi.

They are very well made and realistic. Our dogs were curious and Leo seemed to particularly dislike the Miniature Pinscher statue....Or maybe he just got sick of me taking pictures : )

The nice lady at the gas station also sells through a website: www.youmustlovedogz.com
Check it out, they make a great gift or memorial.
